WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

Since we can't cook the whole world dinner, we find other ways to nourish Harvard and its neighboring communities. As James Beard said, "Food is our common ground, a universal experience." That experience doesn't begin and end on the plate; it also includes buying locally, community service and fostering public health.

Become Aware

In a perfect world, there would be no illness, poverty or hunger; yet we don't live in a perfect world. So often, those three things form a vicious cycle, where people cannot afford to make quality food choices, and their health suffers as a result. This cycle also sets up neighborhoods where fast food chains are on every corner, but there aren't any grocery stores for miles. French fries become the "vegetables" in a child's diet, and that child ends up overweight, suffering from diabetes and hypertension.

There are ways to break this cycle, and these organizations can help you to learn more, or get involved.
