### HUDS Learnings Report 

 

October is a particularly special month on campus. As the leaves begin to fall, the Harvard University community is well into the start of the academic year and enjoying connection over meals, while the wonderful fall harvests give us a taste of quintessential New England. October brings to us World Food Day, observed globally on October 16 by the United Nations, and National Food Day in America on October 24.

This bountiful month also marks the release of the annual Harvard University Dining Services’ (HUDS) Learnings Report of the prior academic year. Since our inaugural 2021–2022 issue, I continue to stand in awe not only of the number of meals we serve across Harvard, but of the many ways our work reaches beyond the plate: supporting student well-being, creating opportunities for connection and learning, and advancing a healthier, more sustainable food system. Through recipes from home, in the classrooms, and in other formal and informal ways, I had the opportunity to meet our students across campus during everyday meals and special events.

I appreciate the chance to reflect on the important work taking place each day for members of the HUDS team and celebrate our many successes, even while forging ahead with ambitious new plans. The achievements reflected in this report are thanks to the tireless work by the entire HUDS team, whose care and commitment make this all possible.

Looking ahead, I am excited to build on this work alongside our community and partners at Harvard and beyond. And most importantly, to continue listening, learning, and finding new ways to nourish, connect, and inspire through food.
